Authorities in Incline Village, Nevada, are conducting vehicle searches for 20-year-old Sean Purdy, who is suspected of killing his father on New Year’s Day.

Although his father’s remains have not been located, the scene at the home indicates a homicide took place. The 2017 blue Subaru Outback Sean reportedly fled the scene from was found in the area of Lake Tahoe early Thursday morning.

Homicide Investigation

Despite not knowing the whereabouts of Lance Purdy, authorities are treating the case as a homicide investigation. They received a call from Lance’s wife, who was out of town on New Year’s Day. She told authorities she was concerned about her husband, who had flown home to check on their son. She had not heard from him and was worried about his safety.

At the home, a neighbor said they observed Sean “quickly” leaving and that they had found a “large amount” of blood in and around the residence. Investigators believe that Sean may have murdered his father based on evidence found at the scene. He was last seen at a 7-Eleven gas station at around 1 a.m., where he fled after being spotted by deputies, and has not been seen since.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has a manhunt underway to locate him in the area of Tahoe and Village Boulevards in Incline Village. They are conducting vehicle searches in an effort to find the suspected murderer. As of Thursday morning, K-9 units and a Raven helicopter have also joined the search, along with help from the Nevada Highway Patrol and Placer County Sheriff’s office.
