Authorities uncovered two sets of children’s remains at the Idaho home of Chad Daybell, the husband of Lori Vallow who is currently being held on multiple charges stemming from the disappearance of her two children and a trail of mysterious deaths that surround her.
Authorities confirmed that they have unearthed two sets of children’s remains from an Idaho home belonging to Chad Daybell the husband of Lori Vallow.
Rexburg police and the Fremont County sheriff’s office, along with FBI, executed a search warrant of Daybell’s property, leading to the discovery, People reported.
The grandparents of the missing children, Larry and Kay Woodcock and Colby and Kelsee Ryan, said they are certain they are the remains of their missing grandchildren, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, who was 7 years old at the time of his vanishing, and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, CBS reported.
Chad Daybell, reportedly was involved in religious doomsday writings, one of which was featured on a podcast promoted by an entity called “Preparing a People,” People magazine reported. Lori was reportedly a follower of Chad’s writings.
Interestingly, before Chad Daybell was married to Lori, he and his wife Tammy worked for the city of Springville, Utah. Chad worked for Springville Cemetery. Tammy died in October 2019 of alleged natural causes in her sleep. Her family declined an autopsy.
Two weeks after her death, Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow in Hawaii, CBS KUTV reports. Tammy’s body has been exhumed for investigation, but autopsy results have yet to be released.
As court appearance on Wednesday, Chad Daybell was arrested and charged with two counts of felony destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence, and his bail was set at $1 million.
Court documents allege that Daybell hid or destroyed human remains on two occasions, which carries a maximum of five years in the state penitentiary or up to $10,000 fine for each charge. The judge could set the sentences to run consecutively or concurrently.
Besides the deaths of what prosecutors believe the remains will show are the children of Lori Vallow, there has been a trail of mysterious deaths.
The FBI is reportedly investigating the death of Lori Vallow’s third husband, Joseph Ryan, People reports. Vallow married Ryan in 2001, and he is the father of their missing 17-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan.
The rocky marriage ended in divorce in 2004. In 2018, the body of Joseph Ryan was discovered in his apartment a week after authorities believe he died of a heart attack. His body was cremated.
In July 2019, Lori Vallow’s fourth husband, Charles Vallow, who was estranged from her at the time, was shot to death in her Arizona home during an altercation with Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, who claimed self-defense and was not charged.
In October 2019, Chad Daybell’s wife, Tammy, was found dead in her bed. Police later called “suspicious” and have exhumed her body to investigate.
In December 2019, Alex Cox was discovered dead at his girlfriend’s house. Although authorities performed an autopsy, the cause of death is still pending.
People reported that Alex Cox is suspected as a possible participant in a non-fatal drive-by shooting of Brandon Boudreaux, whose former wife, Melani, happens to be Lori’s adult niece and the daughter of Lori’s dead sister, Stacey Cox Cope, who died mysteriously in 1998.
Lori’s older sister Stacey Lynn Cox Cope died in 1998 at the age of 31, Court TV Live brought to light in an exclusive report. The cause of death was undetermined.
“You can look at one death as a coincidence,” journalist Ashleigh Banfield told People, “but these people have had a trail of deaths that seemed natural, and are now under investigation. This may be yet another one.”
